Director of Human Resources (HR)
Job Summary
The Director of Human Resources will be a critical member of the business team and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Company’s HR support functions. This newly created and highly visible position requires an individual who is both a strategic thinker and is comfortable with a “roll up your sleeves” mentality and is willing to be intimately involved in all aspects of HR planning and execution.
Responsibilities:
- As an aligned business partner, lead key HR strategic initiatives to include: organizational HR planning, talent acquisition, retention and development, compensation planning, benefits planning, succession planning, organization and leadership development, employee relations, performance management, change management, diversity, acquisition activity and employee communications. Lead the organization in ensuring alignment of HR initiatives to drive the organization’s business objectives and profit initiatives.
- Engage with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives which reflect best practices and initiate innovative HR programs / processes / initiatives that support bottom line performance. The HR leader will be valued for having the capacity to ask the tough questions and find answers which balance corporate business objectives and employee needs.
- Evaluate HR organization vision, mission, structures, processes and people and recommend, design and facilitate implementation of solutions to ensure alignment with the company’s overall direction.
- Ensure HR administrative functions meet timely completion of all necessary activities (HRIS information flow to payroll, benefits enrollments, etc.) Initiate and lead process improvements in HR administration to support ongoing efforts to shift from tactical to strategic levels of service.
- Establish HR organization goals and metrics aligned with the corporate strategy. Execute programs, policies and procedures to employees at all levels of a business unit/functional group that support the company’s HR strategic business plan.
- Resolve complex to advanced employee relations issues. Coach employees on subjects such as career, leadership and performance development plans, compensation matters and assisting employees during implementation of change management initiatives.
- Manage the performance management process to ensure that performance reviews are both timely and qualitative and goals are developed for all levels of the organization and monitored for progress to align corporate objectives with department and individual goals.
- Analyze new laws, regulations and contract trends for potential impact on corporate and business unit goals and objectives.
- Oversee and manage corporate compliance requirements as they relate to H R activities.
- Provide department management including leadership, planning, organizing, staffing, budgeting, and training and development of department and staff.
Requirements:
- BA / BS degree required. Master’s Degree in HR, OD or similar discipline preferred. SPHR certification highly desirable.
- 10+ years in progressive roles as a strategic HR Professional including demonstrated leadership and management responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have experience leading an HR function in a multi-site service industry.
- Comprehension of HR principles and best practices in the areas of Employee Relations, Performance Management, Organizational Development and Effectiveness, Compensation, Staffing and Training.
- Knowledge of HR laws and regulations including, but not limited to, Title VII, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC and employment law.
- Proven ability to manage a small, focused department with the objective of providing a high level of support to the company. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record successfully leading an HR function and developing innovative programs that add significant value to the organization.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication and management skills. High level of integrity, discretion and maturity.
- Ability to use of independent judgment and creativity when applied to resolution of HR issues.
- Quick learner with a high degree of common sense and resourcefulness, the ability to work independently, and expert organization and prioritization abilities.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and strong HR technical and analytical skills.
- Ability to effectively interface with all levels and departments within the company
- Ability to interact confidently with senior management and to translate difficult HR strategy into entrepreneurial and imaginative approaches and practical business solutions.
- Strong business orientation – a thoughtful approach to problem solving – not just an HR technician
- Energetic, decisive, confident, hands-on personality with strong interpersonal skills, flexibility and adaptability and the ability to gain respect and influence others.
- Working knowledge of ADP’s HRB HRIS and PayXpert products desirable.
